There is so much to explore when starting your family history research, and it may seem overwhelming. I recommend starting with the Initial Consultation, to do some brainstorming and scoping. This also gives me an opportunity to assess what barriers we might face, and give advice accordingly.
Once we have determined a path forward together, you can decide how much time you’d like me to spend on it, and even whether you’d like to do some of the work yourself, with my guidance. This is a joint journey, and it is my pleasure to help.
Initial Consultation
$150
We’ll start with a conversation (face to face or online) to learn more about what you’d like to learn, and to share with me what you already have. I’ll then do two to three hours of initial scoping, and come back with advice on next steps. Any information I provide at that point is yours to keep, regardless of whether you’d like to continue.
Ongoing Research
$85 per hour plus expenses (purchasing records etc)
After your initial consultation, you may choose to do some digging yourself, or you can ask me for some more help. I’ll give advice, but will be guided by you on what you’d like me to focus on, and when to check in with you before going further. At each agreed point, I’ll give you an update and we’ll plan the next steps together.
Final Report
$150
You can either choose to keep all records and notes I collect during the research stage, or I can compile it all for you in an easy-to-digest Final Report, with attached records, documents and photographs that we discover along the way. I will also provide a family tree. You will receive digital and printed copies of your report.
